These 7 factors can weaken your immune system

Our immune system is the body’s main natural defense system that prevents us from any infections and diseases. The immune system is the whole network of organs, cells, tissues, proteins and chemicals. All of these work with one another to fight against foreign attackers that cause diseases, infections or illness.

Immune system helps to destroy the virus, bacterias and parasites to keep ourselves healthy. A healthy operative immune system can detect healthy tissues from inessential substances. And if it detects an unnecessary substance, then it will make up an immune action by producing certain antibodies to fight off those germs. However, the immune system sometimes mistakenly attacks a healthy tissue, if a person is suffering from a medical condition. Some health conditions can affect the functioning of your immune system. Certain conditions are:

  • Autoimmune disorder: Autoimmune disorders take place when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues or cells. The commonly known autoimmune disorders are diabetes, Hashimoto’s disease, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Allergies: Our body sometimes reacts disproportionately to non-dangerous substances including food pollen. Then the immune system responds to that. When our immune system fights against the allergy, it triggers the secretion of histamines which results in an allergic reaction. This allergic reaction can cause several mild to severe allergic symptoms.
  • Infections: Certain infections including mononucleosis and HIV can decrease the workings of a healthy immune system.
  • Primary immunodeficiency disorder: The primary immunodeficiency disorder is a genetic disorder that prevents the immune system from working efficiently.
  • Sepsis: Sepsis defined as the over exaggerate response of the immune system. Sepsis prompts extended inflammation which can cause a series of downward spirals that can lead to organ damage, organ failure and even death.
  • Cancer: Certain types of cancer can affect the immune system directly, and trigger excessive growth of the immune cells. Leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma are some examples.
  • Medicines: After an organ transfer, immunosuppressant medicines are given to the patients to prevent transplant rejection. However, these medicines can also increase the chance of getting infections and diseases. Corticosteroids are medicines which can weaken the immune system.

To prevent yourself from getting unwanted infections and diseases go for a yearly thyrocare full body checkup, or aarogyam test package. Have a healthy diet, maintain a moderate weight, have plenty of sleep, exercise regularly, limit the consumption of alcohol, quit smoking and stay up to date on vaccines for the well-being of the immune system.
